The film introduces the Dialogue for Compliance by showcasing two factories: Samad Apparel and Softwood, two denim producers in Lahore, Pakistan. Samad Apparel wants to improve productivity. After many consultants’ visits, training and conferences the company has decided to use the dialogue for compliance. Softwood has been engaged in the Dialogue for Compliance and engaged operators as much as the management to develop bespoke solutions for the challenges the company was facing. As a result, Softwood did not only reduce the defects and improve the workflow, but also increased wages, reduced overtime and increased safety on the production floor.

Aims and objectives

In a structured dialogue between workers and management, both labour standards and productivity can be improved - a win-win for employers and staff!
