Description:

‘How do I feel?…How would you feel?…You decide….It’s your choice.’
The client wants to bring the project in a year early. Is this feasible? If it isn’t, then why doesn’t anybody say so? And how might this decision affect those working on the frontline? A pop-up, multimedia, interactive 90-minute session, YOUR CHOICE combines filmed drama, live action and facilitated discussion, and seeks answers to urgent questions around leadership and responsibility and their impact on safety at all levels of an organisation. The session examines a number of factors that lead to a near-fatal accident and the cultural issues that allow the contributory hazards to go unchallenged. Participants experience the build-up to the accident, they are witnesses to the accident itself, and taste for themselves some of its immediate and long-term consequences.

Target group:

This interactive workshop is targeted across all levels of construction workforces; from senior and middle management, to supervisors and team leaders, to site managers and operatives. The sessions are currently being rolled out to project teams on Transport for London’s Surface Transport Division as well as to contractors and staff engaged on the large-scale upgrade works on the Central London Underground station network.

Subject matter:

Everyone is responsible for workplace safety and behaviour. Everyone is a safety leader. Don't be afraid to challenge, whatever your role and wherever you are in the workforce chain.

Background:

London Underground and Transport for London approached Active Training Team to create an immersive, interactive safety awareness session for their workforce. The aim was to represent a typical transport & infrastructure development storyline, with the aims and the decisions of board and management placing pressure on those beneath. The concept of the narrative was to show, within a fictional setting, that challenging these decisions, and highlighting safety concerns, is possible and is positively encouraged.
